The state-controlled media in Myanmar have been telling their people that the Rohingya are illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. This is a highly prevalent and false narrative that the government has deliberately used to justify the ongoing violence.

What the government is now trying to do is blame the violence on Rohingya insurgents and the Myanmar media is helping them to do that.
